按照聯交所對市場佔有率的報告，香港券商可以分為A、B、C三組，對應排名1至14名，15至65名和65名之後的券商。截至7月份，A組券商市佔率達到54.94%，B組市佔率為35.05%，換言之AB兩組一共佔據了89.99%，剩余的700多家瓜分剩余的10%市場。由此可見，香港證券業“贏者通吃”的現象十分普遍，行業競爭也十分激烈。
